Dr William Van Gordon is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Professor of Contemplative Psychology at the University of Derby (UK). In the past 5 years alone, he has published three books and over 100 full-text academic articles on contemplative psychology, including in some of the world’s leading psychology and medical journals. William has developed “Meditation Awareness Training,” an evidence-based intervention that uses principles and techniques of contemplative psychology as a means of improving health and well-being.
His research has been described as ‘groundbreaking’ by Grazia UK, and over the past 24 months William’s work has been featured by national or major news organizations over 140 times in 18 different countries, including by the national channel BBC TV News, BBC East-Midlands Today, BBC Inside Out, ITV, The Times, The Telegraph, The Independent, BBC News (online), 7 News (Australian National TV News), Weekend Sunrise (breakfast Australian National Television), The Sun, Daily Express, Metro, talkRadio, BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Mail Online and BBC Mundo.
Prior to joining academia, William was a Buddhist monk for ten years and previously held executive positions for Marconi Plc, PepsiCo International and Aldi Stores Ltd. In the case of the latter post, he had full operational responsibility for an investment of £ 28million. portfolio of six supermarkets with more than 60 employees. William travels regularly around the world to give talks, lectures and workshops on meditation and contemplative psychology.
